UK PM Starmer Demands Action from US Tech Giants on Child Online Safety

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer calls on US social media companies to improve child safety protections, citing growing concerns over harmful online content.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer of the United Kingdom has summoned executives from major U.S. social media companies to discuss the growing concerns over child safety and online harms. Starmer, who took office in 2020, has made online safety a key priority for his administration, citing the proliferation of harmful and exploitative content targeting minors on digital platforms.
In a strongly worded letter, Starmer demanded that the tech giants, including Meta (Facebook), Google, TikTok, and Twitter, take immediate action to improve their content moderation and user protection policies. The Prime Minister expressed deep concerns over the mental health and wellbeing of young people, who are increasingly exposed to cyberbullying, self-harm content, and sexual exploitation online.
