City veteran Ian Cheshire has been named as the new chair of Ofcom, the UK's powerful media regulator. Cheshire, who previously served as the chair of Channel 4 and CEO of home improvement retailer Kingfisher, will take on the role for a four-year term once he is approved through a parliamentary hearing.
Ofcom plays a crucial role in overseeing the UK's media and internet sectors, making Cheshire's appointment particularly significant at a time of rapid transformation and challenges facing the industry.
