US Prepares Naval Blockade as Iran Deadline Looms

US set to enforce naval blockade of Iranian ports after Monday deadline passes, as Iran warns of higher fuel prices for Americans.
As tensions between the United States, its allies, and Iran continue to simmer, the US is expected to begin a naval blockade of Iranian ports starting Monday evening. The move comes after a deadline passed for the enforcement of the blockade, which aims to restrict ships from entering or departing Iranian coastal areas.
Centcom, the US Central Command, has not made any formal announcements about the start of the blockade, but had previously stated it would take effect at 5:30 pm Iranian time (3 pm UK time) on Monday. The blockade will apply to any ships using Iranian ports, while vessels utilizing non-Iranian ports will not be impeded.
Iran has warned that the US naval blockade will result in higher fuel prices for American consumers, as the prohibition on ships accessing Iranian ports takes effect. The six-week-old conflict between the US-Israeli coalition and Iran is now poised to become a test of economic endurance between the two sides.
