UK Streaming Services Face Enhanced Regulatory Oversight

Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime Video to be subject to same scrutiny as traditional broadcasters under new Ofcom regulations in the UK.
In a significant move, the UK media regulator, Ofcom, has announced that streaming giants Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Disney+ will now be subject to the same level of scrutiny as traditional broadcasters such as the BBC and ITV. This enhanced regulatory regime will also apply to public service broadcaster (PSB) video-on-demand services like ITVX and Channel 4.
Under the new regulations, these streaming platforms will be required to adhere to specific guidelines related to accurate and impartial news reporting, as well as protecting audiences from harmful and offensive material. This marks a significant shift in the regulatory landscape, as these digital media giants were previously not subject to the same level of oversight as their traditional counterparts.
