In a significant crackdown on illegal waste disposal, a Lancashire-based company and its director have been fined a substantial sum for the unlawful export of contaminated plastic waste to Malaysia. The company, which has not been named, and its director were ordered to pay more than £142,000 in penalties for breaching environmental regulations.
The illegal exports occurred over an extended period, with the company reportedly shipping contaminated plastic waste to Malaysia in violation of laws governing the international movement of such materials. Investigators uncovered evidence that the company had knowingly and systematically engaged in these unlawful practices, undermining efforts to promote responsible waste management and environmental protection.
