In a groundbreaking move that shatters the glass ceiling in European soccer, Marie-Louise Eta has been appointed as the new manager of Union Berlin, becoming the first woman to take the helm of a top-tier men's club team on the continent.
The 42-year-old Eta, who previously served as an assistant coach for the German national women's team, takes charge of the Bundesliga side as they aim to build on their impressive 2021-22 campaign, which saw them finish fifth and qualify for the UEFA Europa League.
