In a devastating incident, a nursery worker has been sentenced to more than three years in prison, and the Fairytales Day Nursery in Dudley has been fined £240,000 following the tragic death of a 14-month-old boy in their care. Noah Sibanda died after he was physically restrained face-down with a blanket over his head while being put to sleep at the nursery in December 2022.
The horrifying incident unfolded when the nursery worker, who has not been named, improperly restrained the young boy in an attempt to put him down for a nap. Noah was left unchecked for two hours before being found unresponsive. Despite being rushed to the hospital, the toddler was pronounced dead an hour later.
The nursery has been heavily criticized for its negligent actions, which led to the preventable death of the innocent child. Investigations revealed that the nursery worker's actions were not only unacceptable but also in direct violation of the nursery's own policies and procedures regarding the proper handling and care of children in their charge.
