Thousands Flock to Witness Venerated Relics of St. Francis in Assisi

Hundreds of thousands of pilgrims gather in the historic Italian town of Assisi to view the 13th-century remains of St. Francis, the revered patron saint of Italy.
In a profound display of religious devotion, nearly 400,000 people have pre-registered to witness the rare public exhibition of the remains of St. Francis of Assisi, the beloved patron saint of Italy. The relics, which date back to the 13th century, are being displayed in the picturesque hilltop town of Assisi, situated in the region of Umbria.
Assisi, the birthplace and final resting place of St. Francis, has long been a destination for religious pilgrims seeking to connect with the saint's profound legacy of humility, compassion, and care for the natural world. The current exhibition, which runs from April to October, marks the first time in nearly 50 years that the remains have been made available for public veneration.
