Streamlining Shared Ownership: A Guide for Social Housing Providers

Discover the latest updates on shared ownership regulations and the Renters' Rights Act, providing valuable insights for social housing providers.
As the Minister for Housing and Planning, I am writing to you today to share important updates on the evolving landscape of shared ownership and the Renters' Rights Act. These changes are designed to enhance the experiences of both homeowners and renters, and I believe it is crucial for registered providers of social housing to be aware of these developments.
Shared Ownership Improvements
Over the past year, the government has been actively working to improve the shared ownership model, ensuring it remains a viable and accessible path to homeownership. One of the key changes is the introduction of a new, more flexible shared ownership scheme. This updated model allows for a minimum initial share of just 10%, compared to the previous 25%, making it more attainable for first-time buyers and those on lower incomes.
