Satellite Mirrors Raise Alarm: Scientists Warn of Disruptions Worldwide

Leading sleep and circadian rhythm researchers express concerns over tech firms' plans to deploy reflective satellites and expand low Earth orbit numbers.
Leading sleep and circadian rhythm researchers have raised serious concerns over plans to deploy reflective mirrors and increase the number of satellites in low Earth orbit. In letters to the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC), presidents of four international scientific societies representing over 2,500 researchers from more than 30 countries have warned of the far-reaching consequences for human health and ecosystems.
Disrupting Sleep and Circadian Rhythms
The proposed use of reflective satellites and the rapid expansion of the satellite population in low Earth orbit could have a significant impact on human sleep and circadian rhythms, which are essential for our overall health and well-being. Disruptions to these natural cycles can lead to a range of issues, including increased risk of sleep disorders, mental health problems, and even physical health concerns.
