Outrage Grows as DW Reporter Arrested in Turkey for Critical Coverage

German union demands action after DW journalist Alican Uludag detained in Turkey over social media post critical of government. Calls for Turkish ambassador summons amid escalating press freedom concerns.
The German journalists' union has forcefully condemned the arrest of DW reporter Alican Uludag, who was taken into custody in Turkey and placed in pretrial detention over a social media post that was critical of the country's government. The union has now urged the German Foreign Office to summon Turkey's ambassador in response to the disturbing development, which has sparked international outcry over the state of press freedom in the region.
Uludag, who works for Germany's public international broadcaster Deutsche Welle, was detained by Turkish authorities on allegations of spreading terrorist propaganda through a post on his personal social media account. The post in question was said to have expressed views that were critical of Turkey's political leadership and its handling of certain domestic issues.
