Military Lasers Take Down Drones in U.S. Airspace: FAA Grants New Authorization

The FAA has approved the military's use of anti-drone laser systems like the Locust in U.S. airspace, allowing for increased security and defense capabilities against unauthorized aerial vehicles.
In a significant move to bolster national security, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has granted the military authorization to employ anti-drone laser systems within the United States' airspace. This landmark decision comes as the U.S. armed forces seek to enhance their defense capabilities against the growing threat of unauthorized unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), commonly known as drones.
One such system, the Locust, has already been utilized along the border with Mexico and was recently deployed in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Locust, a state-of-the-art laser-based counter-drone technology, is designed to detect, track, and neutralize small drones that pose a potential threat to critical infrastructure, military installations, or public safety.
