Israel-Lebanon Conflict Escalates Amid Iran Ceasefire Talks

Israel's recent attacks on Lebanon threaten to derail delicate U.S.-Iran ceasefire negotiations, as Iran's parliament speaker warns 'time is running out'.
Tensions in the Middle East have escalated in recent days as Israel has launched a series of attacks on targets in Lebanon, threatening to disrupt ongoing negotiations between the United States and Iran aimed at reaching a ceasefire. Iran's parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has warned that 'time is running out' to resolve the conflict, underscoring the fragility of the situation.
The attacks on Lebanon, which have reportedly targeted Hezbollah militants and infrastructure, come at a critical juncture in the diplomatic efforts to bring an end to the longstanding tensions between Iran and the United States. The U.S. has been engaged in indirect talks with Iran in an attempt to revive the 2015 nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), which was abandoned by the Trump administration in 2018.
