Iranian Students Defy Authorities, Protest Universities' Reopening

As Iranian universities reopen following nationwide protests, students rally to voice their continued defiance against the government's crackdown on dissent.
As Iranian universities reopen their doors after a period of nationwide protests, students have taken to the streets once again to voice their ongoing defiance against the government's heavy-handed response to the unrest. Many students remain incarcerated after being taken by security forces during and after the bloody protests that swept the country in January.
The resumption of classes has done little to quell the simmering anger and frustration among the student population, who view the authorities' actions as a blatant attempt to suppress their dissent and right to free expression. Undeterred, they have continued to stage demonstrations and rallies on campuses across the nation, drawing attention to the plight of their incarcerated peers and demanding accountability from the government.
