Iran Warns US Against Blocking Strait of Hormuz: 'Piracy' or Provocation?

Iran's army denounces US plans to restrict maritime transit in the Strait of Hormuz as illegal and amounting to 'piracy'. Tensions escalate as the US seeks to exert control over a vital global trade route.
Iran's army has strongly condemned the United States' reported plans to restrict maritime navigation and transit in the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global trade route, describing the move as illegal and amounting to piracy.
The US has been vocal about its intention to ramp up pressure on Iran by limiting its ability to export oil, a key source of revenue for the Iranian economy. One of the strategies being considered is to restrict or blockade the Strait of Hormuz, through which a significant portion of the world's oil supply transits.
However, the Iranian military has issued a stern warning, stating that any such action by the US would be a clear violation of international law. Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi, a senior Iranian armed forces spokesman, emphasized that the Strait of Hormuz is an international waterway, and the US has no right to interfere with the free flow of maritime traffic in the region.
