In a remarkable act of bravery, Kirk Moore, the principal of Pauls Valley High School in Oklahoma, is being hailed as a hero after surveillance footage showed him tackling and disarming a former student armed with two semi-automatic handguns. The incident occurred on the school grounds, and Moore was shot in the leg during the altercation, but he is now healthy and recovering.
According to investigators, the alleged attacker, Victor Lee Hawkins, fired several shots before Moore and another staff member were able to disarm him. Hawkins now faces charges of shooting with intent to kill, feloniously pointing a firearm, and carrying a weapon to a public assembly. He is scheduled to appear in court on May 8th.
The dramatic event unfolded when Hawkins, a former student, entered the school armed with the two semi-automatic handguns. Moore, without hesitation, sprang into action, tackling the gunman and wrestling the weapons away from him. During the altercation, Moore sustained a gunshot wound to his leg, but his quick thinking and bravery likely saved countless lives.
