Gas Prices Unlikely to Drop Soon Despite Strait of Hormuz Reopening

Experts explain why it could take months for gas prices to fall, even if the Strait of Hormuz reopens after recent tensions in the region.
Although the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial global oil chokepoint, has recently reopened after heightened tensions in the region, experts warn that it could still take months for gas prices to significantly drop. The reason for this delay is that the complex energy infrastructure of the Gulf region requires extensive time to ramp back up to full capacity.
Restarting Oil Production
When oil wells are shut down, either due to maintenance, political instability, or other factors, it's not as simple as just turning them back on. Many of these wells require extensive preparation and recalibration before they can begin producing oil again at full capacity. Industry analysts estimate that it could take several weeks or even months for some wells in the Gulf region to be fully operational once the political situation stabilizes.
