In a dramatic turn of events, Brazil's former intelligence chief, Alexandre Ramagem, who had been on the run since fleeing the country, has been apprehended by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. Ramagem, a key figure in the attempted military coup that led to the conviction of former President Jair Bolsonaro, had evaded authorities for over a year before being tracked down and arrested in the United States.
Ramagem's arrest comes as a major victory for Brazilian authorities, who had been seeking his extradition since he escaped the country just days before Bolsonaro and several other co-conspirators were found guilty and sentenced for their roles in the failed coup attempt.
