Flamm Arts Festival Ignites Passion for Cornish Town of Bodmin

Eclectic art festival brings contemporary art to the overlooked town of Bodmin, aiming to spark interest in this Cornish gem.
While art lovers often bypass the Cornish town of Bodmin in favor of the more well-known seaside galleries in places like St Ives and Newlyn, an eclectic festival called Flamm – Cornish/Kernewek for flame or spark – is bringing contemporary art to this oft-overlooked hinterland of the peninsula this weekend. The festival promises to ignite interest in this unsung Cornish gem.
Flamm features a diverse range of artistic offerings, from a clay sculpture of jackdaws, a nod to the local legend of Rose Wright, a Bodmin jail inmate who was supposedly trained to steal coins, to a sound installation on a railway platform that features an eerie conversation between two train workers.
