Escaped Wolf Returned to South Korean Zoo After Nationwide Search

South Koreans breathe sighs of relief as a two-year-old wolf that escaped from a zoo is captured safely after a 9-day search that gripped the nation.
South Korea was captivated by the daring escape and dramatic return of a young wolf that had burrowed out of his enclosure at a local zoo. The two-year-old male wolf, named Neukgu, broke free from the O-World zoo in Daejeon on April 8th, sparking a nationwide search effort that had the country on the edge of their seats.
Animal rights activists voiced concerns for Neukgu's wellbeing, worried that he may not be able to survive on his own outside the zoo. There were also fears that the wolf could pose a safety threat to the public, especially after a puma that escaped from the same zoo in 2018 was ultimately killed during its capture.
