Defiant Cuban Leader Stands Firm Against US Pressure

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel marks anniversary of socialist revolution amid threats of US energy blockade and attacks on the island nation.
As Cuba commemorated the 63rd anniversary of its socialist revolution, President Miguel Diaz-Canel struck a defiant tone in the face of continued U.S. pressure and threats of an energy blockade. Diaz-Canel, who succeeded Raul Castro in 2018, has pledged to uphold the communist ideals of the 1959 revolution led by Fidel Castro.
Addressing a crowd of thousands in Havana's Revolution Square, Diaz-Canel vowed that Cuba would not be cowed by American sanctions and interventionist policies.
