Californian Fights Back Against Alleged False ICE Gang Accusations After Shooting

A California man claims he was falsely labeled a gang member and unjustly shot by ICE agents during a traffic stop, sparking scrutiny of the agency's actions.
Carlos Ivan Mendoza Hernandez, a 36-year-old California man, was shot by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers during a traffic stop, leaving him with over six bullet wounds. Hernandez says officials have falsely accused him of being a gang member and that the officers had no justification for opening fire on him.
The incident occurred on Tuesday in Patterson, a rural agricultural town in California's central valley. Patrick Kolasinski, Hernandez's attorney, visited him in the hospital on Thursday morning and summarized his client's account of the events.
