Bulgarians Yearn for a Brighter Future: Youth Lead the Charge for Change

As Bulgaria grapples with its 8th election in 5 years, a new generation of voters is driving the call for economic reforms and anti-corruption measures.
Bulgarians are once again heading to the polls, grappling with the country's eighth election in just five years. This political instability has been fueled by a growing generational divide, with young Bulgarians leading the charge for meaningful change.
At the forefront of this movement is 23-year-old Anna Bodakova, who is running for a seat in Parliament. Bodakova's days are a whirlwind of activity, from meeting with voters on the street to participating in political debates and recording social media videos to reach her peers.
This renewed energy for change stems from the mass protests that swept the country last year, which were driven largely by young Bulgarians frustrated with the government's economic policies and perceived failure to tackle corruption. Those demonstrations ultimately led to the resignation of Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov and his cabinet in December.
