Australia and Singapore Secure Vital Fuel Supply Deal Amid Global Crisis

Singaporean PM reassures Australia that fuel shipments will continue, as leaders sign pact to ensure energy security amidst international turmoil.
Australia and Singapore have reached a landmark agreement to ensure the flow of refined fuels and liquefied natural gas (LNG) between the two countries, despite the global energy crisis triggered by the war in the Middle East. This follows a visit by Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to his Singaporean counterpart, Lawrence Wong, where the leaders made a joint pledge to "make maximum efforts to meet each other's energy security needs."
The new deal will see the countries add a legally binding addendum to their existing free trade agreement, solidifying their commitment to safeguarding critical energy supplies. This comes as a major relief for Australia, which relies heavily on Singapore as its largest source of petrol imports.
