Arnold Schwarzenegger Resurrects Iconic 'Conan the Barbarian' Role 44 Years Later

At 78 years old, the action star is set to return to his breakout role in a new installment of the 'Conan the Barbarian' franchise, promising 'all kinds of madness'.
Arnold Schwarzenegger is set to revive his iconic role as Conan the Barbarian, 44 years after the original film that launched his career as a movie star. The 78-year-old actor announced his return to the chivalric sword-wielding character at the Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, Ohio, revealing that director Christopher McQuarrie, known for his work on the Mission: Impossible franchise, will be taking the reins on the new project, titled King Conan.
The original Conan the Barbarian film, released in 1982 and adapted from the pulp novels by Robert E. Howard, saw Schwarzenegger play the lead role on a quest for revenge against James Earl Jones' cult leader, Thulsa Doom. After his successful stint as the governor of California, Schwarzenegger's acting work has slowed down in recent years, making this announcement all the more exciting for fans of the action hero.
